The Central Library for the Churches of Sicily at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Sicily “San Giovanni Evangelista” in Palermo was officially established in 1981 in the historic site of the Seminarium Clericorum. The building dates back to 1591, and is provided with a courtyard surrounded by columns. The building was later expanded during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
Today, the Library has a bibliographic heritage of about 165,000 publications, among these, there are more than 1,000 periodicals. The main subjects include theological, biblical and philosophical disciplines, but also philology and history, especially concerning Sicily.
This library keeps twenty Hebrew books (early and modern) that have been included in the regional catalog of Hebrew books that is being compiled by Dr. Camarda.
